About

Hi!
I'm a PhD candidate in clinical psychology. My main interest is in the nature and development of experience, with a specific interest in addressing the philosophical and methodological problems of experience in the social sciences. I primarily identify as an existential, humanistic or phenomenological psychologist-in-training. (I use all three labels because there isn't one that encapsulates all of them.)

In particular, I'm currently studying the use of Eugene Gendlin's focusing practice as a way of training clinical psychology graduate students in self-reflection, self-assessment, and self-care--all important dimensions of the evidence-based and ethical practice of psychology. Currently, these reflexive dimensions of clinical expertise are not typically addressed in formal graduate curricula in clinical psychology, although they are required for professional competence.

Additionally, I am the Assistant to the Director of the Simon Silverman Phenomenology Center, housed in Gumberg Library on Duquesne University's campus. I have a special interest in the relationship between cognitive science and phenomenology. Please let me know if we may be of any help to you in your search for phenomenological resources.
