Thesis Title: Max Scheler's Critical Theory: Critical Phenomenology and the Dialectic of Solidarity

James Swindal

About

I work on drawing out the relations of Max Scheler's philosophy with other contemporary continental voices. I explore the impact Scheler's phenomenology, value-ethics, and philosophical anthropology have on social philosophy.  My dissertation focus concerns the significance of Scheler's sociology of knowledge and theory of solidarity for the advancement of critical theory, theories of ideology, critiques of capitalism.
